Modern computer lab installed in CU's Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall

A modern computer lab was installed on Sunday (October 26, 2025) at the Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall of Chittagong University to accelerate the research and IT-based education of students and to fulfill the long-standing needs.
This lab, set up in the reading room of the hall, has five high-configuration computers. Students can now take advantage of modern technology in academic work, research and project-based activities.
The lab was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yahya Akhtar. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin was present at the time.
The Vice-Chancellor said, "Serving students is our main responsibility. We want every hall to create a conducive environment for learning. Through this lab, students will move further in research and technology-based activities."
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin said, “Such a lab is very important in the technology-based education system. It will make students knowledge-oriented and research-oriented.”
This initiative has been implemented by the joint efforts of Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall Provost Professor Dr. A.K.M. Ariful Haque Siddiqui and elected student representatives. Professor Ariful Haque said, “A well-wisher gifted us 5 computers, as a result of which we were able to build this modern lab for the students.”
Also present at the inauguration ceremony were CU Proctor Professor Dr. Hossain Shaheed Sarwardy, Atish Dipankar Hall Provost A.G.M. Niaz Uddin, Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall House Tutor Dr. Md. Imam Hossain, Chaksur Career Development and International Secretary Mehedi Hasan Sohan, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Shaheed Abdur Rob Hall Sangsad Vice President Md. Borhan Uddin, Joint General Secretary Abu Bakkar, Science, Research and Technology Affairs Secretary and other elected representatives, students and officials and employees.
The university students welcomed this technology-based initiative as a timely and education-friendly step.
