Miscreants attack on rice sheaf banner in Narail - Concern in Hindu-dominated areas

There have been allegations of cutting and destroying BNP banners and festoons in Tularampur union of Narail Sadar upazila. In the dark of night, banners and festoons hung in Hindu-dominated Mitna, Bamanhat, Benhati, Debipur and Malihat areas seeking votes for rice sheaf were cut and defaced.
Locals said that the pictures of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and district Jubo Dal organizing secretary Shihabur Rahman Shihab on the banners were cut and destroyed with sharp weapons.
Locals claim that Shihabur Rahman Shihab stood as a shield to protect the Hindu community in the unstable context after August 5. They were safe under his leadership. Therefore, miscreants are trying to spread provocation and confusion by destroying banners and festoons with political motives.
They also said, “We are not afraid of cutting the banner. We will unite under the leadership of Shihab Bhai and work for the next election for the paddy.”
District Jubo Dal Organizing Secretary Shihabur Rahman Shihab said that he was not sure who had committed the incident in the dark of night. The matter has been reported to the administration and he expressed hope that those responsible will be brought to justice soon.
