Case against 98 leaders and activists of A.League including former MP in Gaibandha

A case has been filed in the name of 98 Awami League leaders and activists on the charge of vandalizing and setting fire to the Youth Dal office of Gaibandha district BNP office. Besides, 150 to 190 people have been named as unknown accused in the case.
On Sunday (August 18) afternoon, Gaibandha Sadar police station confirmed the matter of the case. Earlier on Saturday night, Rafiqul Islam, convenor of Badiyakhali Union Jubo Dal of Sadar Upazila, filed this case at Gaibandha Sadar Police Station.
General Secretary of Sadar Upazila Awami League Mridul Mostafiz Jhantu has been made the main accused in the case and Shah Shilpu, husband of former MP of Gaibandha-2 Sadar Constituency and Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, has been made accused in the case.
Apart from this, the notable defendants in the case are Shah Sarwar Kabir, former MP of Gaibandha-2 Sadar Constituency, Aminur Zaman Rinku, Organizing Secretary of District Awami League and current Sadar Upazila Chairman, District Awami League Vice President and former Mayor Shah Ahangir Kabir Milon, President of Sadar Upazila A.League. Rezaul Karim Reza, city upazila Awami League president Omar Farooq Rubel, district Jubo League president Sardar Md. Shahid Hasan Lawton, former MP Mahabub Ara Begum Gini's nephew (son of brother-in-law) and District Jubo League General Secretary Shah Ahsan Habibob Rajib, Awami League leaders and municipal councilors Kamal Hossain and Asaduzzaman Hasu, Awami League leaders Jasim Bihari, former convener of Gaibandha Municipal Volunteers League Rintu , former District Chhatra League President Tahmidur Rahman Siju and newly former District Chhatra League President Asif Sarkar.
It is mentioned in the statement of the case that on July 17 this year around 4 pm, the accused came in front of the district BNP office at Circular Road with a procession armed with deadly weapons including sticks, sticks, iron rods, axes, knives, big sharp knives, cocktails and petrol. . At that time, the accused vandalized the district Jubodal office located at the southern corner of the district BNP office.
At that time, accused No. 82 of Ejahar Shah Shilpu gave the order to destroy the Juba Dal office, as soon as the order was received, the accused threw cocktails at the Juba Dal office and caused a huge explosion. At that time, when some leaders and activists who were sitting inside the Jubo Dal office panicked and ran away, the accused threw cocktails on the balcony of the office and caused a huge explosion.
Besides, they vandalized 50 chairs and tables inside the Jubo Dal office, poured petrol and set it on fire.
The accused brought banner festoons and pictures of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia from the Jubo Dal office to the street and poured petrol on them and set them on fire. They smashed the doors, windows, and railings of the front porch of the Juba Dal office with hammers and sledgehammers.
It is also claimed in the complaint that there has been an estimated loss of ten lakh rupees in these incidents of vandalism and fire.
