Miscreants hacked to death the feed trader Idris Howlader and his cousin Sagar Howlader of Satla Bazar in Ujirpur Upazila of Barisal. It is believed that the murder was carried out due to a dispute over the fish enclosure.
On Saturday (August 25) around 10:30 pm, they were hacked to death with sharp weapons while returning home from Satla Bazar in the upazila. Rabiul Islam, teacher of East Satla United Secondary School, confirmed the matter. Deceased Idris Hawladar is the son of Sohrab Hawladar of West Satla village and Sagar Hawladar is the son of Shahadat Hawladar of the same house.
According to local and police sources, businessman Idris Howlader (40) was returning home on the motorcycle of his cousin Sagar Howlader (27) after closing his business at around 11 pm on Saturday. On the way to the slope of the west bank of the Satla Bara Bridge, the miscreants stopped their movement and hacked businessman Idris and severed his legs. At that time, the motorcyclist hit his cousin Sagar and seriously injured him. On the screams of the injured, the locals came to the spot and rescued them first and took them to Agailjhara Upazila Health Complex. Later they were sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Businessman Idris Howalder died while undergoing treatment at 2:30 am and Sagar also died a few hours later.
Former UP member Monafsher Howlader, the uncle of the deceased, said that the killings were led by Satla Union Chairman Shaheen Howlader and his cousin Jubo League leader Asad Howlader.
He also said that a case was filed against 40-45 people including Idris Howlader and Satla Union Chairman Shaheen Howlader and his cousin Asad Howlader in connection with the arson of the fish enclosure, chicken farm and water irrigation pump owned by Idris Howlader late on March 17. Shaheen chairman had to go to jail in this incident. This murder can happen only to take his revenge.
OC Zafar Ahmed of Uzirpur Model Police Station said that it is initially believed that the two murders may have taken place due to a dispute over a fish enclosure with the deceased Idris Howlader. Arrest of criminals and preparation of case is going on.
