Students of the institution are protesting to make Titumir College affiliated to Dhaka University a university. At one stage of the movement, they blocked the Mohakhali railway crossing. Due to this, rail communication with Dhaka was cut off. Meanwhile, they stopped two intercity trains and threw bricks at the train. A number of passengers inside the two trains were injured due to the brick and mortar thrown by the students. The students started the movement from the railway gate area of Mohakhali after 11 o'clock on Monday.
As the rail communication with Dhaka has been closed across the country due to the students' movement, traffic has been completely stopped in the Mohakhali, Banani and Jahangir Gate areas due to the students' location at the Mohakhali rail crossing. As a result, starting from train passengers, hundreds of bus passengers are also suffering.
