Student dies while playing ball in Bhurungamari, Kurigram

A student died after drowning in Dudhkumar river while playing ball in Bhurungamari, Kurigram. The incident took place in the Dudhkumar river under Sonahat bridge of the upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin confirmed the truth of the incident.
It is known that the dead student's name is Siam (13). He is the son of Assistant Professor (English) Hamidul Islam of Bhurungamari Fazil Madrasa.
According to locals and police, Siam (13), son of Hamidul Islam, assistant professor (English) of Bhurungamari Fazil Madrasa, and associate of Bhurungamari Women's Degree College. Professor (English) Masood Al Karim's son Jahin (13) two friends go to play football on the banks of Dudhkumar river. At one stage of the game, their ball fell into the river. While picking up the ball from the water, both of them drowned in the current of the river. Later, the locals rescued Jahin alive after many efforts, but Siam could not be found. The local diving team tried for about 3 hours to recover Siam's body. In this tragic incident, a shadow of mourning has fallen in the area along with the family of the deceased.
In this regard, Bhurungamari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ruhul Amin said that the student's body was allowed to be buried as there was no complaint from the family.
