The chief adviser of the interim government. Amar Bangladesh (AB Party) met Muhammad Yunus and presented 10-point demands.
AB Party presented this demand in a joint meeting of leaders of four political parties including AB Party on Monday (12 August) evening at the invitation of the Chief Advisor to the Government.
During the meeting, the AB Party leaders called for the formation of a judicial inquiry commission to investigate the allegations of torture against religious minorities. They also suggested that if necessary, a Hindu present or former judge could be made the head of the commission.
Earlier, when AB Party's opinion was asked about National Mourning Day on August 15, they said that it is inappropriate to declare individual-centered day or general holiday in a people's republic, it is against the Declaration of Liberation War. The AB Party feels that there may be ancillary measures to commemorate the contribution of national personalities but this state is not the contribution of a single individual. If a person is presented in an overly worshipful form, his disgrace and downfall are inevitable.
AB Party leaders also said that this interim government is different from any other government. It is an extraordinary government that took over after a popular uprising and the fall of a dictatorial regime.
After the discussion, AB handed over a 10-point written proposal containing expectations, demands and commitments to the chief adviser.
The delegation was led by AB Party convener AFM Solaiman Chowdhury. Party member secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju and joint member secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad were with him.
Also present in the meeting were Interim Government Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul, Advocate Adilur Rahman Khan and Farida Akhter.
