July fighter injured in stabbing at Islamic Mahasammelan of Jhanjail Madrasa in Durgapur

July fighter and Chhatra Dal leader Mamun (19) was injured in a stabbing at the Islamic Mahasammelan held at the premises of Jhanjail Madrasa in Durgapur Upazila of Netrokona. The sensational attack took place at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday (December 23), which has created widespread excitement and tension in the area.
The injured Mamun is a July fighter of Gaonkandiya Union No. 7 in Durgapur Upazila and is serving as the president of Chhatra Dal of Shankarpur Ward No. 9. According to eyewitnesses, during the Islamic Mahasammelan at Jhanjail Madrasa, an unknown person suddenly took advantage of the crowd and attacked Mamun with a sharp weapon. Immediately after the attack, the accused quickly left the scene and fled.
When Mamun fell to the ground after being stabbed, local people present at the conference quickly came forward and rescued him. He was immediately given first aid. Later, when his physical condition improved somewhat, he was handed over to his relatives.
After this incident, there is extreme tension in Durgapur and the surrounding areas. The specific reason for the attack and the identity of the attacker have not yet been confirmed. Local conscious people have demanded that the mystery of the incident be quickly solved, the culprits identified and exemplary legal action be taken.
In this regard, the concerned administration has informed that an investigation into the incident has been started and necessary steps are being taken to identify the attacker and bring him under the law. Surveillance of law enforcement agencies has been strengthened in the area to control the situation.
