Savar Correspondent: Discussion and criticism have arisen among a section of students and public participating in the movement over the appointment of Senjuti Hossain as the convener of BNP's July-August mass uprising celebration committee in Dhaka-19 (Savar-Ashulia) constituency.

According to local sources, Senjuti Hossain recently joined BNP from the National Citizen Party-NCP. Critics allege that he was given the leadership of this important committee despite there being no information about his direct participation in the July-August 2024 mass uprising.

According to locals, Savar and Ashulia were one of the most important areas of the country in the July-August movement. Many students, workers and ordinary people took part in the movement in this region. At the same time, casualties also occurred here due to the movement.

Some of the participants in the movement alleged that Senjuti Hossain was made the convener without giving responsibility to anyone from among the direct participants of the movement, the injured and the recognized leaders and activists at the local level. They see this as an underestimation of those who played an active role in the movement.

According to them, it was necessary to give the leadership of a committee like the July-August mass uprising celebration to someone who had directly participated in the movement, served as an organizer or stood by the protesters.

A section of the protesters say that the real experience of the horrors, sacrifices and struggle during the mass uprising can play an important role in the activities of the celebration committee. They also believe that if the leadership was selected from among the direct participants or the injured, the sacrifices of the martyrs and the injured would have been properly evaluated.

A section of the concerned demanded that the decision to form the committee be reconsidered and representatives of the families of the injured and martyrs who actively participated in the movement and the injured should be involved.
