BNP wins big in Supreme Court Bar, wins 13 out of 14 posts

The BNP-backed panel has won a big victory in the 2026-27 session of the Supreme Court Bar Association. The party-backed candidates have won 13 out of 14 posts. The Jamaat-backed panel has won the remaining one post.
On Thursday (May 14), at around 2 am, the convener of the election sub-committee, Justice Miftah Uddin Chowdhury, officially announced the results.
BNP-backed candidate Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon has won the post of president. Mohammad Ali of the same panel has been elected as the secretary.
In addition, Md. Magfur Rahman Sheikh and Md. Shahjahan have been elected as vice-presidents, Md. Ziaur Rahman as treasurer, and Maqsud Ullah and Mohammad Shamsul Islam Mukul have been elected as assistant secretaries.
HM Sanjid Siddiqui, AKM Azad Hossain, Md. Kabir Hossain, Md. Tipu Sultan, Md. Zia Uddin Mia and Wahid Afroz Chowdhury. Jamaat-backed candidate Md. Azim Uddin Patwary won one of the seven member posts.
A total of 4,048 voters cast their votes in the two-day voting held earlier. The voting was held at the Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium on May 13 and 14 from 10 am to 5 pm.
The results are seen by those concerned as a reflection of BNP's strong position in the professional politics of lawyers.
