Amid controversy sparked by a hacked social media post, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has publicly apologized to mothers and sisters. He said that after his verified X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked, obscene and offensive comments—particularly targeting women and mothers—were posted from the account. If any mother or sister was hurt by those posts, he expressed sincere regret and sought forgiveness.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made the remarks on Sunday (February 1) while addressing a public election rally as the chief guest at Shahid Darog Ali Municipal Park in Sherpur. In his speech, he said that following the hacking incident, a certain group deliberately spread propaganda and attempted to divert the situation through marches and demonstrations. He alleged that those who do not genuinely respect women tried to exploit the incident for political purposes.

Strongly condemning any form of disrespect toward women, the Jamaat Ameer said that those who insult women are failing to act responsibly as human beings. Addressing women as “mothers,” he added that those who disrespect women are themselves the children of mothers. He urged them to first learn to respect their own mothers, wives, and sisters.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further stated that if a person learns to respect their own family, they will be able to respect all women in society. Describing the humiliation of women as a sign of severe moral degradation, he warned that ethical decay is increasing in society. He emphasized the need for collective awareness and action to protect the dignity and honor of women, underscoring social and moral responsibility in this regard.
