BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the people can get real security only in the hands of a force that believes in the independence and sovereignty of the country. Stating that the politics of religious division, hypocrisy and deceit are a serious threat to the country, he urged the countrymen to be vigilant against these evil forces. He made these remarks at a huge public meeting held in Narsingdi late on Thursday (January 22).
Citing the recent earthquake in the election rally, Tarique Rahman said that the several earthquakes that have occurred in the country can be a message to warn people. He said, ‘Allah has warned them because of their lies, hypocrisy and polytheism – stop them. If we say this, where will they go? So, let's save the country and its people from these polytheists, from these hypocrites, from these fraudsters.' His speech reflects a strong stance against the politics of deception and confusion in the name of religion.
He also said that there is no alternative to honest, courageous and patriotic politics to rebuild the country. In a suggestive speech, Tarique Rahman said that some live abroad, some move to other countries if necessary - but BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has always made it clear that the soil of this country is her only address. Through this, she sends a message of being uncompromising in the national interest.
Tarique Rahman recalled the events of August 5, 2024, and said that on that day, students, the public, women, workers and professionals stood together to protect the country's independence. He also mentioned that they risked their lives in the movement to restore the freedom of the people, as well as the freedom they gained in 1971, and to restore their right to speak and vote.
Alleging that people's voting rights have been taken away in the name of so-called elections in the last 15 years, he said that society cannot move forward if we cannot call good good and bad bad. Protest against evil is necessary. He alleged that disappearances, murders, false cases and money laundering have had a negative impact on infrastructure development, education and health sectors; at the same time, unemployment and the livelihood crisis of the common people have increased.
At the end of his speech, the BNP chairman raised the slogan 'We will do work, build the country - Bangladesh first' and called for voting with a grain of rice in the upcoming national parliamentary elections. Tarique Rahman said that if a grain of rice wins, the country will move forward on the path of democracy.
At the public meeting, he introduced the BNP candidates nominated for the five parliamentary constituencies of Narsingdi. On the occasion of his arrival, leaders, activists and supporters from different upazilas of Narsingdi gathered at the public meeting venue since the afternoon, and the crowd continued to grow as the night progressed.
BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan and other central and local leaders addressed the public meeting organized under the chairmanship of Narsingdi District BNP President and Narsingdi-1 constituency candidate Khairul Kabir Khokon and moderated by District BNP General Secretary and Narsingdi-3 constituency candidate Manjur Elahi.
