State apparatus and law enforcement agencies have taken a stand against July: Hasnat

Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the southern region, has alleged that the state apparatus and law enforcement agencies have taken a stand against the July coup. He claims that there is a planned attempt to make the current state system and existing political parties irrelevant to the participants in the July coup.
On Monday (January 5) night, Hasnat Abdullah went live on his verified Facebook page and said that the current state apparatus is harboring a hostile attitude towards the fighters of the July revolution. In his words, analyzing the recent developments, it is clear that a section of the state and administration is consciously trying to silence the voices of the revolutionaries.
Citing the incidents related to the assassination of Sharif Osman Hadi and student movement leaders Mahdi and Tahrimah Survi, he said that these incidents prove that the law enforcement agencies have actually taken a stand against the July coup. The NCP-nominated MP candidate alleged that a deep conspiracy is underway to suppress the revolutionaries.
Hasnat Abdullah expressed deep concern about the trial of Sharif Osman Hadi in particular. He claimed that despite the passage of a long time, there is no visible progress in the trial of this murder. He also commented that analyzing the role of the government's responsible persons, there is no sincere willingness to ensure justice.
He further said that one after another unpleasant incident after the Hadi incident proves that the state machinery is systematically trying to corner the July revolutionaries. Hasnat also commented that the role of the Election Commission is questionable in this context. According to him, the Election Commission is not applying the law equally to everyone; rather, it is behaving differently according to individuals and groups, which has become a major obstacle to a free and fair election.
On Facebook Live, he also strongly criticized the government's digital policy and the role of the media. Highlighting the removal of journalist Ilyas Hossain's Facebook ID, he said that no action has been taken against many Awami League-related IDs in the last one and a half years. However, the state machinery is actively working to suppress those who are anti-government or reformists. He alleged that in the past, many media outlets have been seen working as 'Hasina's servants'.
In the last part of his speech, Hasnat Abdullah said that they are clearly in favor of state reforms and are uncompromising on the issue of any kind of foreign aggression and opposition to India. He called on the countrymen to support the forces that are in favor of implementing reforms in the upcoming elections and to further expand the scope of democratic politics.
