Nomination papers of 19 candidates for two seats in Panchagarh verified: 7 including Jagpar Al Rashed Pradhan cancelled

After verifying the nomination papers submitted for two seats in Panchagarh ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, the nomination papers of 7 out of 19 candidates have been cancelled. At the same time, the nomination papers of 12 candidates have been declared valid.
The verification of nomination papers was conducted from morning to noon on Saturday (January 3) at the office of the Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner. After the verification, the Returning Officer and Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner Kazi Md. Sayemuzzaman officially informed this information.
According to district administration sources, 8 candidates submitted their nomination papers for Panchagarh-1 seat. After verification, the nominations of 7 of them have been declared valid. The valid candidates are Barrister Naushad Zamir, BNP's International Relations Secretary and Paddy Sheaf candidate, Sarjis Alam, NCP's northern chief organizer and 11-party alliance's Shapla Kali symbol candidate, Ferdous Alam of Bangladesh Labor Party, Sirajul Islam of Bangladesh National Front, Abdul Wadud Badsha of Bangladesh Supreme Party (BSP), Mahafuzar Rahman of Ganadhikar Parishad and Nazmul Haque Pradhan of Bangladesh JS. The nomination of Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA) candidate Al Rashed Pradhan was cancelled due to errors in the nomination papers in this constituency.
On the other hand, 11 candidates submitted their nomination papers in Panchagarh-2 constituency. After scrutiny, the nominations of 5 people have been declared valid. The valid candidates are BNP's Rural Development Affairs Secretary and paddy sheaf candidate Farhad Hossain Azad, Jamaat-e-Islami's beard symbol candidate Shafiul Alam, Islamic Andolon's fan symbol candidate Kamrul Hasan Pradhan, Bangladesh JSD's Emran Al Amin and Bangladesh Supreme Party's Delwar Hossain.
Al Rashed Pradhan of Jatiya Ganatantrik Party (JAGPA), independent candidate Rahimul Islam Bulbul, independent candidate Mahmud Hossain Sumon, Liberal Democratic Party's Rezaul Islam, Jatiya Party's Lutfar Rahman Ripon and Bangladesh Communist Party's Ashraful Alam were rejected due to errors in their nomination papers in this constituency.
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Kazi Md. Sayemuzzaman said that out of a total of 19 candidates in the two constituencies of Panchagarh, 12 nomination papers have been declared valid and 7 nominations have been rejected due to errors. Symbols will be allotted to the legitimate candidates on January 21. Candidates will be able to officially start their election campaign only after the symbols are allotted.
He further said that all legal and administrative measures will be taken as per the instructions of the Election Commission to organize a fair, free and impartial election in Panchagarh.
