Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the recently resigned advisor to the interim government, will contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming national parliamentary elections in Dhaka-10 constituency. He gave this information in a video message on his verified Facebook page on Friday.

Asif Mahmud said, “This opportunity to determine the future of Bangladesh has come after 17 long years. Realizing the dream of building a new Bangladesh is difficult, but not impossible. The need of the hour is not the politics of division that has been going on for ages, but rather the establishment of a state oriented towards public welfare for every citizen, and the implementation of new social, political and geopolitical settlements.”

He also said, “This fight is not easy. However, I want to continue this fight for reconstruction and reconstruction with the inspiration of the sacrifices of Matiur Rahman, Taramon Bibi, Nur Hossain, Felani, Abrar Fahad, Abu Said and the fascinated.” Asif Mahmud will contest the Dhaka-10 constituency comprising Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hazaribagh, New Market and a part of Kamangi Char as an independent candidate in this election.

The former advisor said, “I do not have the patronage of any major political party, numerous dedicated workers or the money required in the conventional system. My only recourse will be your cooperation and support. I am not only a candidate for the post of Member of Parliament, I am also a candidate in the referendum. The opportunity to reform the country has come at the cost of so many lives, so I want everyone to vote yes in the referendum.”

Asif Mahmud sought everyone's cooperation to ensure transparency, justice and participation of the common people in this election campaign.
