12 BNP leaders join Jamaat-e-Islami in Bogra

12 BNP leaders and activists in Bogra's Shajahanpur upazila have joined Jamaat-e-Islami. Their joining activities were officially completed by presenting flowers to the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized by Jamaat in Ward No. 13 of the upazila at Betgari Bandar More on Tuesday (October 14).

Among the leaders and activists who joined Jamaat-e-Islami are - Bogra District Sramik Dal executive member Ashraf Ali, Ward No. 13 Volunteer Dal vice-president Babu Mistry, Ulama Dal vice-president Maulana Abdur Rahman, Swechchhashevak Dal vice-general secretary Habibur Rahman, Sramik Dal vice-general secretary Chan Mia, Sramik Dal members Saju Mia, Badal, Abdur Rahman, Munna, Syed Ali Sagar and Ranju.

Ward No. 13 Jamaat Amir Matiar Rahman presided over the discussion meeting. The chief guest was Jamaat-e-Islami's nominated parliamentary candidate for Bogra-7 (Shajahanpur-Gabatoli) constituency and Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Federation's central vice-president Golam Rabbani.

The program, moderated by former student leader Shahin Khan, was attended as special guests by District Jamaat Ameer Principal Maulana Abdul Haque Sarkar, District Nayeb Ameer Professor Maulana Abdul Hakim Sarkar, Upazila Ameer Maulana Abdur Rahman, Upazila Secretary Maulana Shahidul Islam, City Jamaat Assistant Secretary Al Amin, Upazila Assistant Secretary Tarequl Islam, Shajahanpur Upazila Brickyard Owners' Association President Alhaj Rafiqul Islam and other level leaders.

This move of leaders and activists from BNP to Jamaat-e-Islami has become a new topic of discussion in the political circles of the upazila.

Political observers believe that this may have an impact on the political equation of the area.
