Jamaat is doing politics under the shadow of Awami League: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has alleged that the banned political party Jamaat-e-Islami is now running around in various places to get Awami League votes.
He made these comments at a protest meeting organized by the Ulama Dal, an affiliate of BNP, at the National Press Club on Tuesday (October 14) afternoon. Protests were held at the meeting against insulting the Quran and insulting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “Jamaat-e-Islami is now demanding a referendum in November to thwart the national assembly elections. They are trying to create new instability in the country by adding conditions. This shows that questions have been raised in the public mind about whether there is a big master plan behind them or not.”
The BNP leader also said, “Jamaat loves to follow the Awami League’s lead. It is still seen that they are adopting various strategies to get Awami League votes. They are going beyond the basic principles of Islam just for the greed of power and are doing things that are shameful for the Muslim community.”
Other speakers present at the meeting also expressed their anger over the government’s lack of religious tolerance and the failure to prosecute the Quran desecration incident. They said that the people are now waiting for change to establish justice and democracy in the country.
At the end of the meeting, Rizvi Ahmed emphasized once again, “These activities of Jamaat prove that they are no longer a party of Islamic values, but rather want to do politics under the shadow of Awami League. BNP will never agree with such compromise politics.”
