The counting of votes in the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JACSU) elections has finally ended. The process took about 40 hours to complete. Election Commission member Professor Lutful Elahi confirmed this information at 2:20 pm on Saturday (September 13).

The counting of votes for three consecutive days had created impatience among the students. In this situation, Chief Election Commissioner Professor Md. Moniruzzaman said that the results will be announced at 7 pm.

Lutful Elahi told the media around 10 am on Saturday that the aim is to announce the election results by noon. He also said that the counting of votes in 15 out of 21 halls has already been completed, while the counting of votes in the remaining 6 will be completed by 1 pm.

Even then, the counting of votes in 16 halls had been completed by 11 am on Saturday. The counting of the remaining 5 halls was going on and the central votes were also being counted simultaneously.

It is worth noting that the voting was held in 21 halls of the university from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursday. Initially, the plan was to count the votes using OMR machines, but after mutual complaints between Chhatra Dal and Shibir over the supply of machines, the decision was made to count the ballots manually. The ballot boxes were brought to the Senate building around 7 pm and the counting process began after 10 pm.

The announcement of the results of this year's election will end a long wait for the students.
