Operators claim no LPG shortage in the country; directive issued to monitor supply

Importers and operators have informed Energy Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud that the country's stock and supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) remain normal. However, the Minister has instructed the relevant authorities to keep a close watch on whether any shortages or artificial crises are emerging at the consumer level.
Discussions regarding LPG import, stock, supply, and market prices took place on Monday (September 28) during an exchange meeting held by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division. The Energy Minister presided over the meeting.

According to data from the National Board of Revenue, 157,760 metric tons of LPG were imported into the country in August. An additional 118,742 metric tons were imported during the first 22 days of September. Citing these figures, operators asserted that there is currently no LPG shortage in the country.
The Minister stated that even though stocks are adequate, it must be ensured that there are no disruptions in supply to consumers. He also directed officials to monitor whether anyone is creating an artificial crisis by hoarding LPG for unscrupulous purposes.

During the meeting, operators highlighted certain obstacles hindering their business operations. The Minister instructed the Energy Division to take measures to resolve these issues and assured the ministry's cooperation in removing barriers to LPG imports.
