In view of Eid-ul-Fitr, strict steps have been taken to ensure safe and smooth travel of passengers on the country's roads, bridges, railways and waterways, said Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Waterways Sheikh Rabiul Alam. He clearly said that no scope for extortion will be given on the roads during the Eid procession.
He said these things while talking to reporters after the Eid procession preparation meeting held at the ministry on Thursday (March 5) afternoon.
The minister said that strict surveillance measures have been introduced on various roads and highways in the country around Eid. For this, the highway police, local administration and law enforcement agencies are actively performing their duties. At the same time, arrangements have been made to operate mobile courts at different places, so that quick action can be taken if any irregularities or extortion occurs.
He further said that the leaders of transport owners and labor organizations related to the road and transport sector are also alert in this regard. They have also taken responsibility so that no opportunity is created to gain any kind of unethical benefits around the Eid journey.
The minister expressed hope that with the coordinated efforts of all the parties concerned, this year's Eid journey will be comfortable and safe and the passengers will be able to reach their destinations without any problems.
