National mourning on Tuesday in memory of those killed in the quota movement

A day of national mourning has been declared across the country on Tuesday (July 30) in memory of those killed in the quota movement, including members of the law enforcement agencies.

This decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday (July 29). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. This information has been confirmed by the Cabinet Department.

Yesterday (Sunday), Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters in his office at the Secretariat that violence has erupted across the country in the last few days around the quota reform movement. 147 people died in this violence, including students and members of law enforcement.

He said, "Our estimate is that 147 people have died so far in the recent violence." There are different classes of people, there are people of different ages. There are people of different political identities. The minister also said that the number of victims has been obtained from different hospitals and different districts.

Before this, the students started continuous anti-quota movement from July 1. On July 15, after the clashes surrounding the students' movement in Dhaka University, protests spread almost all over the country
