145 Bangladeshis detained in the Benghazi Ganfuda Detention Center in Libya returned home on Tuesday (February 12). The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya said in a press release that the repatriated Bangladeshis landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Libyan Buraq Air flight this morning.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Libya said that they are working closely with the local authorities and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to safely repatriate the Bangladeshi citizens stranded there. As part of this, 145 Bangladeshis detained in the Benghazi Ganfuda Detention Center have been repatriated with the assistance of IOM.
In this regard, a delegation of the embassy has already visited the Ganfuda Center, met with the detained Bangladeshis and issued travel permits for them after verification. Subsequently, subject to the approval of the local authorities and with the full support of IOM, arrangements have been made for the return of these Bangladeshis to their home country free of cost.
This proves that the safe repatriation of Bangladeshis has been possible through the combined efforts of the Bangladesh government and international organizations.
