Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister yesterday and left Bangladesh. Upon receiving this news, Bangladeshi students and Canadians of Bangladeshi origin who came to study here rushed to the premises of Shaheed Mina. Due to the 13-hour time difference with Bangladesh, many Bangladeshis in Canada, including Manitoba, have spent the past few days on a tight budget. Around four o'clock in the morning on August 5, expatriates heard the news of Sheikh Hasina's resignation from various media outlets in Bangladesh.
First of all, the victims of this movement were remembered in the premises of Shaheed Minar. May the forgiveness of their souls be sought. Muslims and traditionalists pray according to their religion. They celebrate this morning with various parody slogans. Many people put Bangladeshi flags on their cars and played Bengali patriotic songs and toured the streets of Unipeg, the capital of Manitoba, Canada. This program was originally organized by the anti-quota students of the University of Manitoba in Canada.
After 2 pm Biryani was brought for lunch at the initiative of a Bangladeshi Canadian. Many bring sweets, jelly, fruits.
Many spoke of the anger of the last government. Canadian Bangladeshi Md. Wahidur Rahman said that his Canadian passport has been withheld at the Bangladesh Embassy. He is not being given a no-visa to visit Bangladesh. He has not been able to visit his family in the country for a long time.
Many complain that Canada's Bangladesh High Commission has not been giving any dissidents a no-visa requirement to visit Bangladesh for the past few years. Only Md. Wahidur Rahman No, many people who came here said that the High Commission is not giving them visas to go to Bangladesh. They appealed to the new government not to do this again.
Canadian local media covered the event.
