Iran launches missile and drone attacks on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain

Iran has claimed to have launched missile and drone attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. The incident sparked renewed tensions in the Middle East early on Wednesday (June 3). However, Iran and Kuwait have differed on the damage caused by the attack.
Kuwait's defense forces said in a statement that a "hostile" missile and drone attack was attempted on a US military installation in the country in the middle of the night. However, Kuwait's air defense system was able to repel the attacks. They claim that none of the missiles or drones hit the intended target and no military or civilian installations were damaged inside the country.
The statement also said that the explosions heard at night were mainly the result of the destruction of missiles and drones by the air defense system. It was also reported that the security situation in Kuwait is completely under control.
However, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has rejected Kuwait's statement. In a message published on the social media Telegram, they claimed that at least three missiles had successfully hit the US base in Kuwait. The IRGC also commented on the statement of the Kuwaiti Defense Forces as 'ridiculous'.
Earlier, on Monday, ballistic missiles were launched from Iran targeting the US base in Kuwait. At that time, the US Central Command (Centcom) said that two ballistic missiles had been successfully intercepted.
Meanwhile, various sources have reported that missile and drone attacks were also launched against the US naval base in Bahrain in addition to Kuwait. Although the Bahraini military has not released any detailed information on this matter so far.
Iran's semi-official Mehr News reported late Tuesday that multiple explosions were heard near Iran's Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. Shortly after, reports emerged of attacks targeting US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
Analysts see the recent incident as a new chapter in the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Such attacks, especially amid ongoing military and diplomatic tensions between Iran and the United States, could further complicate the regional security situation.
