Indian youth arrested at Fatikchhari border

Border Guard Bangladesh BGB has arrested an Indian youth named Putan Mollah from the Andharmanik border area of Bhujpur in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong.
On Monday afternoon, a patrol team of Andharmanik BOP of Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion with the help of locals arrested him while he was moving suspiciously. Later that night, he was handed over to Bhujpur Police Station.
According to BGB sources, the arrested Putan Mollah is 19 years old. During initial interrogation, he identified himself as an Indian citizen. His home is in Ramendranagar area of Sabrum subdivision of South Tripura district of Tripura state, India. His father's name is Badal Mollah.
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ahsan ul Islam, commander of Ramgarh 43 BGB Battalion, said that the BGB is conducting regular patrols to prevent illegal infiltration and smuggling in the border area. As part of this, the young man was detained from the Andharmanik border area.
He further said that after the necessary interrogation, the detained person was handed over to the Bhujpur police station. A case has been filed against him at the police station on charges of illegal entry.
However, it was not immediately known why he entered Bangladesh. The police are investigating the matter.
