A major cyber attack has been reported targeting the popular music streaming platform Spotify. According to various international sources, a hacker group identifying itself as pro-Iran has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to the report, a group called ‘Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq-313 Team’ has claimed that they have launched a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack targeting Spotify’s main server. In such attacks, an attempt is made to disable or slow down an online service by sending a large number of requests.

After the incident, some users reported problems using the app. The complaint was that the platform’s app, website and web player were working slowly or could not be accessed in many cases.

The number of user complaints also increased according to the information of online service monitoring platforms. Later, Spotify’s support department said that some issues related to slowness and performance in the service had come to their attention and the matter was being reviewed.

On the other hand, the hacker group claimed on social media that their cyber operation was a retaliatory move. However, there has been no independent or impartial verification of this claim.

Meanwhile, at the same time, suspicious and threatening messages have been sent to various Israeli citizens on messaging platforms. Although they initially appeared to be legitimate business accounts, some of them are later suspected to be fake or hacked accounts.

Technology analysts believe that along with geopolitical tensions in recent times, there is a risk of a new level of conflict in the cyber arena.
