Supertankers and cargo ships continue to sail through Iranian waters despite US sanctions

Amid international sanctions and tense conditions, supertankers and cargo ships continue to sail through Iranian waters. Despite recent increases in tensions in the Gulf region, Tehran has not halted its maritime activities.
Top Iranian officials have warned that Gulf ports must remain open to all—otherwise, no port will be safe. They said that if Iran’s ports are damaged, other ports in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman will also be at risk.
Meanwhile, no agreement was reached on a ceasefire at a meeting held between Iranian and US representatives in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday (April 11). Immediately after this, the US military announced a blockade of all Iranian ports.
The US Central Command said in a statement that the blockade will be implemented impartially on all ships entering or leaving Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. This 'process' is scheduled to begin on Monday.
Adding to the tension, US President Donald Trump said he did not care whether Tehran would return to talks with the US.
Analysts believe that the tension surrounding maritime trade and energy transport could create new instability in global markets.
