In the context of ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has expressed deep shock and condolences over the tragic death of a Bangladeshi national in the debris of a missile fired by Iran in Bahrain. The condolence message was conveyed to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on behalf of the King.
Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani officially informed Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman over the phone on Monday (March 2) night. He confirmed the death of the deceased expatriate and expressed deep sorrow on behalf of the Bahraini government.
During the conversation, the Bahraini Foreign Minister said that his country's government is committed to ensuring the safety of the lives and property of all Bangladeshi nationals residing there. Necessary emergency measures have been taken to protect the expatriates in the emerging situation and assured that cooperation will continue in the future.
At that time, the Bangladeshi Foreign Minister thanked the Bahraini government for its responsible role in the critical situation and highlighted the close diplomatic relations between the two countries. Earlier on the same day, another telephone conversation was held between the foreign ministers of the two countries, where the overall security situation in Bahrain and the situation of expatriate Bangladeshis were discussed.
It is worth noting that the casualties occurred when the debris of a missile launched by Iran hit a populated area in Bahrain due to the recent regional conflict. Although concerns spread among expatriate Bangladeshis after the incident, it is believed that the security assurance from the high level has stabilized the situation to some extent.
Meanwhile, it is known that the Bahraini authorities will cooperate in quickly sending the body of the deceased Bangladeshi to the country and providing necessary legal assistance to his family. Currently, the foreign ministries of the two countries are working in coordination on this issue.
