Cambodia nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize!

Cambodia is going to nominate former US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his important role in resolving the recent border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia in Southeast Asia. The country's Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol announced this in an announcement on Friday (August 1).
In a statement published in Cambodia's local media Fresh News, Sun Chanthol said, "As Cambodian citizens, we express our deep respect and gratitude to the US President, who is truly the 'President of Peace'. We formally propose that President Donald Trump be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."
Thailand-Cambodia conflict and Trump's role
In recent weeks, tensions have escalated on the border between Thailand and Cambodia with reciprocal airstrikes and rocket fire. Clashes continued for five days in the border area, causing many casualties.
However, a ceasefire between the two countries took effect on July 28. Earlier, both sides agreed to stop the attacks at a peace meeting held in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. Former US President Donald Trump played a major role in this agreement.
At the beginning of the conflict, he spoke to the Thai and Cambodian prime ministers by telephone and directly warned that trade relations with the United States would be threatened if the war continued. Later, he contacted the two leaders again and paved the way for a ceasefire.
Post-conflict measures and international reaction
On Friday, diplomats from the two countries visited the border area with journalists and foreign representatives and inspected the facilities damaged in the attack. High-level talks on border demarcation between the two countries will be held in Malaysia next week.
Even before Cambodia's nomination, international support for Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize has been expressed. Last June, the Pakistani government also announced its nomination for Trump. Then, a ceasefire was brokered by him in a border conflict between Pakistan and a neighboring country. In July, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also said he wanted to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Controversial in the international arena, but a success in mediation
Donald Trump, who has always been controversial in international politics, has been in the news in recent years for his role in mediating ceasefires and peace agreements in several crises. This nomination by Cambodia, in recognition of his active role in resolving this conflict in Southeast Asia, has once again earned him the status of a leader who has contributed to establishing peace.
The world is now looking to the upcoming UN General Assembly session and the Nobel Committee's decision—a time when Trump is again running for president of the United States.
