At least 45 people have died in the last 24 hours due to severe thunderstorms and gusty winds in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The loss of life occurred in various districts due to continuous rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds that started on Wednesday. This information has come out in a report by the country's influential daily Times of India.

The Uttar Pradesh state government said that the district administration has been instructed to provide compensation to the families of those killed in this disaster within 24 hours. At the same time, it has been decided to conduct a quick survey to assess the damage to crops on an urgent basis to provide assistance to the affected farmers. The government believes that this step will make it possible to complete relief and rehabilitation work in the affected areas quickly.

According to the forecast of the state Meteorological Department, this disastrous weather may continue until next Monday. Light to moderate rainfall is expected, especially in central Uttar Pradesh and Terai regions, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Residents have been advised to be as alert as possible and stay in safe places in such weather conditions.

This natural disaster has not only claimed the lives of people, but also many innocent birds. In Singhar village of Jhansi district, a huge peepal tree, which was the habitat of numerous parrots, collapsed due to the storm. Locals said that parrots had been living in that tree for many years. During the storm, a large branch of the tree suddenly broke, injuring or killing many birds.

Jhansi district forest officer JB Shende said that so far 70 parrot deaths have been confirmed. Besides, about 30 birds are undergoing treatment under the supervision of the forest department in serious injuries. Local residents have also expressed grief over the incident.

Both humans and animals are being affected by such a cruel act of nature. To reduce the damage caused by such disasters, early warning, effective weather forecasting, and administrative preparedness are needed. At the same time, citizen awareness in environmental protection and disaster management is also the need of the hour.
