Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made explosive comments about the minority Muslim community in India. He said, if they are indifferent to the plight they are in, they cannot consider themselves Muslims. However, his comment was not taken well by New Delhi. Even the Modi government has condemned Khamenei's comments.
In a post on social media X on Monday, Khamenei said, "If we are indifferent to the plight of Muslims in Myanmar, Gaza, India or anywhere else, then we cannot consider ourselves Muslims." The enemies of Islam have always tried to make us indifferent to our collective identity as a Muslim Ummah.
According to news media NDTV, Khamenei compared the plight of Muslims in India to that of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. He made this comparison on the day of Miladunnabi on the holy Eid on Monday. However, New Delhi said his statement was unacceptable.
In a statement after Khamenei's speech, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said, "We strongly condemn the comments made by Iran's supreme leader about minorities in India." These are incorrect information and unacceptable. Countries that comment on minorities should look at their own actions before commenting on others.
