Due to the clash and attack of BCL with the students agitating for the quota reform, leaders and activists of BCL across the country, including Dhaka University, Jagannath University, have been forced to voluntarily resign. After the death of Begum Rokeya University English department student Abu Saeed, this wave has also been felt among the leaders and activists of the Berobi branch Chhatra League.

One by one the senior leaders of the organization are resigning citing the incident of attack as 'brutal'.
From Tuesday (July 16) afternoon to Wednesday (July 17) midnight, various resignations were reported. Apart from Berobi branch Chhatra League, many have resigned from various branches.

In the screenshots spread on social media, it can be seen that Berobi branch BCL President Pomel Barua and General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Shamim are seen taking leave from two groups. Many have resigned with status on Facebook.

Among them are the vice-president of Berobi Branch Chhatra League Tariqur Rahman Mubin, Fazle Rabbi, joint editor Piyas, organizing editor Shah Mohammad Arif, deputy information research editor Arifuzzaman Arif, co-editor Mathin Lohani and editor Md. Al-Amin Miah, Deputy Finance Secretary Alamgir Sarkar, Deputy Religion Secretary Rajan Ahmed, Deputy Library Secretary Shaheen Islam, General Secretary of Marketing Division Sabbir Ahmed Ryan and many leaders and activists.

Shah Mohammad Arif, organizing secretary of Berobi Chhatra League, wrote on his Facebook status, "Today's incident is outside of my ideals, so I removed myself from all kinds of politics."

Vice-president Fazle Rabbi writes, 'I am a Kulangar, resigned from the post of vice-president of the Chhatra League.'
Pius wrote, "I resigned from the post of joint general secretary of Begum Rokeya University Chhatra League."

Co-Editor Md. Al Amin Mia writes, 'I m. Al Amin Mia. I am the co-editor of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Begum Rokeya University. Ashamed of my conscience, I voluntarily resigned from my Chhatra League post. From now on I am no longer associated with any campus politics.

General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Shamim wrote in a messenger group, a Chhatra League worker, as a Chhatra League worker, I can never accept this. They shot our younger brother in the chest in front of everyone, he died, but we are silent.

Meanwhile, apart from the leaders and activists of Begum Rokeya University Branch Chhatra League, many people from various organizations have also resigned and confirmed it by posting on social media. Farzana Akhtar Naureen of Rangpur IHT (18-19) batch has resigned from the post of vice-president of IHT branch Chhatra League. Alpana Akhtar Ritu Gangachra has been relieved from the post of women's affairs secretary of Upazila Awami Swachhasevak League. From his Facebook ID, he wrote, 'May God protect everyone. And so that no mother's lap is empty, these things are no longer tolerated. I am not the child of any freedom fighter, but if Bangabandhu is the father of our nation then we all are his children then why there is quota discrimination? Quota should be reformed.

In the last two days, there have been reports of the resignation of more than a hundred Chhatra League leaders and activists from the affiliated organizations of Awami League.
Incidentally, on Tuesday (July 16) in the afternoon, there was a three-way clash between police and Chhatra League with anti-quota protestors at Park Junction in front of Berobi campus. Police fired rubber bullets, tear shells and several rounds to disperse the students. A student named Abu Saeed who was on the front of the clash was killed. He is a 12th batch student of English department in Berobi and one of the coordinators of the anti-quota movement.
