Suman Ghosh, a disabled husband, has complained of harassment and torture against his wife and her in-laws in Patrail Sahapara area of Delduar upazila in Tangail.
According to the details, Suman Ghosh, son of deceased Narayan Chandra Ghosh of Delduar Upazila, is a disabled person. He is a government registered disability pensioner. Fourteen months ago in Betka area of Tangail Sadar Upazila, Dinesh Chandra Das' daughter got married to artist Rani Das. He was the sole breadwinner of his wife and mother. But after 6 months of marriage, his cash-strapped wife artist Rani Das demanded unlimited money. Suman Ghosh is a day laborer by profession. To meet his immoral needs, he became indebted to about 6 to 7 lakh rupees. At one point, he got fed up and told his greedy wife that my income is 10-12 thousand taka per month, how can I pay you 15 to 20 thousand taka per month after household expenses. This increases the strife in the family. Orthlipsu's wife artist Rani Das tells her husband that you will not steal and give money, I don't know how to give it. I have to pay 20,000 taka per month after household expenses. At one point, artist Rani Das was unable to support her mother-in-law and constantly pressured her disabled husband, Suman Ghosh, to write off her house. Meanwhile, his father-in-law Dinesh Chandra Das, mother-in-law Dipali Rani Das, his wife's elder brother Khushi Das and sister-in-law started living in Suman Ghosh's house. Meanwhile, Suman Ghosh, a disabled husband, borrowed money from various places to support his family and Shushu's household and ended up in debt of around 6-7 lakh rupees. On the other hand, Suman started beating and torturing him from his father-in-law's house as he did not register the house and did not pay the money as demanded. A son was born to them. Suman Ghosh bears all the medical expenses of his child as best he can. After having a child, the level of torture by the people of her in-laws increased. At home, his wife Suman subjected Ghosh's mother to constant mental torture, verbal abuse and stopped alimony. If his sister-in-law or any relative comes to the house, he abuses them in unspeakable language. Suman Ghosh is not allowed to enter his own house by the people of his father-in-law's house. On 15/09/2024 at 2:30 PM, his wife's elder brother (defendant no. 2) and 10-12 other armed men went to Suman Ghosh's residence and threatened to kill his entire family. Then on September 18 around 8 pm, as soon as Suman Ghosh entered his house, his wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law and wife's elder brother chased him to kill him. Accused No. 2 Khushi Das and his father Dinesh Chandra, who was chased and fell down on the road, injured him with Elopathari Kill punches and tore off his clothes. Fearing Khushi Das, no one in Pathrail area dares to protest. Khushi went to Patrail area and walked around proudly saying that I am a member of Morshed Council. Whose father has so much courage to come in front of me. If someone speaks for Suman, I will lower my voice. The disabled husband filed a complaint at the Delduar police station, unable to bear the torture of his wife and in-laws.
Complainant Suman Ghosh said, I am a disabled person and disability allowance beneficiary. I regularly support my mother, wife and son. But my wife, father-in-law, mother-in-law, wife's elder brother and sister-in-law have settled permanently. The pressure is too much for a disabled person like me to bear. Meanwhile, pressure is being applied to write down the house. They are threatening to kill my family if I don't write home. Currently I am in extreme insecurity. won't let me go home I have filed a written complaint at Delduar police station seeking redressal in this regard.
The SI of Delduar police station said, I am looking into the matter.
