In Jessore's Sharsha fields, there were aman paddy and vegetable plantations all over the crop fields. After a few days, Aman started harvesting paddy and selling vegetables in village and city bazaars. And the marginal farmers of rural areas were dreaming to benefit from it. But their dream has been submerged under the water of three consecutive days of heavy rain.

Heavy rains for three consecutive days have caused extensive damage to Aman fields and various vegetable fields. Farmers have suffered huge financial losses. Apart from this, various areas of the upazila have been flooded due to continuous rain. Various areas including Hatbazar have sunk. Ponds and fish enclosures were washed away.
Pictures of such damage were seen in Putkhali, Goga, Kayba, and Baganchra Unions of Jessore's Sharsha Upazila.

Abdur Rashid, a vegetable farmer of Rudrapur village in Sharsha, is now facing a nightmare. Because about one acre of his vegetable field is under water. Even if the water recedes, this crop cannot be saved in any way. Meanwhile, the vegetable plants in the fields have started dying. It is feared that the trees will die if the water recedes. And the stems of the pots that are submerged under the water will rot. He has spent about one and a half lakh rupees in cultivation. Everything is now floating in water.

Abdur Rashid said, I was dreaming of taking vegetables to the market after a month. But now that dream has sunk under the water. Instead of profit, I fell into loss.

Al-Amin, a farmer in Kaiba area, planted kul seedlings on 36 percent of his land. This time he dreamed of making a profit by selling cool. The flowers were also caught in the saplings. The trees are slowly becoming dull due to the accumulation of water in the land during the continuous monsoon. Some trees have collapsed under the water. In addition to kul trees, his dharas and kalai fields have suffered extensive damage.

Master Roshan Ali, a farmer of Goga area, has grown Aman paddy on three bigha land. Whole fields of unripe paddy are now floating in water. He will not get even a third of the paddy.

Farmer Salim Reza said, the rice ears have just come out. Paddy should ripen only if it is a little sunny. In the meantime, the paddy trees have broken and submerged in the water. Even if some of this rice can be taken, the labor cost will be high even after harvesting. Already, the cost of medicine in the paddy fields has increased compared to other years.

Nazmul Molla of Baganchra village said that due to heavy rains, the water entered the house and reached knee level. Baganchra Darul Aman Trust area has sunk.
Ashraful, a businessman of Navaron raw market, said that due to water entering the market, the business is suffering a lot. Traders are in trouble for not being able to bring goods.

Deepak Kumar Saha, agriculture officer of Sharsha upazila, said that the Aman paddy trees in the fields have collapsed in some places and the paddy fields of Putkhali, Goga and Kayba Union of the upazila have been submerged in water. Aman fields and vegetable fields are waterlogged. If the water recedes quickly, the damage to crops including paddy will be less.

He also said that about 300 hectares of crop land in the upazila has been submerged in water. However, we are trying to block the water by constructing a dam in front of the Ichamati River in Rudrapur of Kaiba Union of Upazila so that Indian water cannot enter with this rain water. He said that if the water does not enter again, the amount of damage will be reduced. He also said that if the weather is good, the amount of damage can be determined from the upazila side.
