Human chain in Madhupur demanding re-investigation and trial of DU student Abu Bakar murder case

Former student of Madhupur Shaheed Smriti Higher Secondary School, Tangail, non-partisan Abu Bakar was brutally killed on February 3, 2010 in a clash between two groups of Chhatra League in Dhaka University.

In protest, people from all walks of life, including teachers and students of various educational institutions, held a human chain and protested at the Madhupur bus stand demanding a re-investigation and trial of this brutal murder.

On Wednesday (September 11) at 11 a.m., Martyr Abu Bakar Memorial Sangsad Golabari Madhupur organized this human chain and protest march at Anaras square of Madhupur bus stand.

Shaheed Abu Bakar Siddique was a brilliant non-partisan student of the 3rd year Department of Islamic History and Culture of Dhaka University. He is the son of Rustam Ali, a poor farmer of Golabari area under Madhupur upazila.

Martyr Abu Bakar Siddique was fatally injured by a bullet in his head in his room in the crossfire between two sides of Chhatra League of Sir AF Rahman Hall on February 2, 2010. He died on February 3 at Dhaka Medical College Hospital after a long 24-hour fight with death.

Shaheed Abu Bakar Siddique's father Rustam Ali, elder brother Abbas Ali, younger brother Omar Farooq, principal of Madhupur Shaheed Smriti Higher Secondary School Nitai Chandrakar, former principal Bajlur Rashid Khan Chunnu, former principal of Madhupur Government College Montaj Ali, Abu Bakr Friend Shafikul Islam Shubo, prominent businessman Anwar Hossain, student of anti-discrimination student movement. Zubair, SM Sabuj, Ekramul Haque, Nasiruddin Milan etc.

The speakers in the human chain said that all the defendants were unjustly acquitted without giving the plaintiffs the opportunity to appeal after a long period of time planned by the influence of the previous Awami government.

In the hope that the people of the country will get justice after the fall of the dictator through the anti-discrimination student movement, they demanded that the judgment of the farce in the murder case of the talented student, Shaheed Abu Bakar Siddique, be annulled and the death penalty of all the accused be commuted through a retrial.

Teachers and students of various educational institutions and people of all levels participated in this human chain program and protest march.
