Allegation of beating and hacking to death of farmer in Pabna

A farmer named Amjad Hossain (55) was allegedly beaten and hacked to death in Pabna due to a land dispute. He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday (September 05) morning. Earlier on Wednesday (September 04) afternoon, he was injured.
The deceased Amjad is the son of Khadir Praman of Paykel village of Malanchi Union of Sadar Upazila.
Locals said that Afzal Hossain of Paykel village and the deceased Amjad Hossain had been having a land dispute for a long time. As a result, Afzal beat him with a stick and cut him with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring Amzad.
Locals first admitted him to Pabna General Hospital. Later, when the condition worsened, he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali said, the spot has been inspected. However, it is initially believed that this incident occurred due to a land dispute. If complaints are received, legal action will be taken by registering a case.
Meanwhile, the accused Amjad Hossain and his family members are absconding since the incident.
