Opposition acting irresponsibly after securing votes with promises of 'paradise': State Minister

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, has remarked that the 11-party opposition alliance is acting irresponsibly—having secured votes by promising people a place in 'paradise,' only to now adopt an obstructionist stance from the opposition benches.
He made these comments while speaking to journalists on Friday (October 16) at the Shibganj Upazila Auditorium in Bogura, following the distribution of financial grants to Durga Puja *mandaps* (worship venues).
The State Minister noted that the country’s economy is currently facing a crisis. Given this situation, the opposition’s demand—raised just six months into the government's tenure—is far from responsible behavior. He urged the opposition to cooperate with the government in the interest of the nation and its people.
Regarding religious harmony, Mir Shahe Alam stated that the current government believes in equal rights for citizens of all faiths. He affirmed that the government stands with the Hindu community, ensuring their safety and the smooth celebration of their religious festivals.
He further asserted that in the last election, voters from the Hindu community cast their ballots freely for candidates of their own choosing; no single political party can claim them as its exclusive base of support.
During the event, the State Minister distributed cash assistance from his personal funds to 65 Durga Puja *mandaps* across the Shibganj and Mokamtala areas.
