"Investigation would reveal evidence of corruption against every student advisor": Nur

Nurul Haque Nur, State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and President of the Gano Odhikar Parishad, has leveled serious allegations of corruption against the former student advisors of the interim government.

He claimed that an impartial investigation into the former student advisors would uncover evidence of corruption involving at least one billion taka (100 crore) against each of them.

He made these remarks on Friday morning (September 11) while addressing a workers' meeting of the Gano Odhikar Parishad (Dhaka Metropolitan South unit) as the chief guest at the Sagar-Runi Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU).

Nur's allegations against student advisors

Nurul Haque Nur stated that although the plan was to rebuild the state while maintaining national unity following the July uprising, this could not be achieved due to the failures of the interim government's advisory council and the student advisors.

He alleged that the unprecedented support from the general public could not be sustained. He claimed that the former student advisors who appeared in the media abused their power and attempted to gain political advantage by utilizing the state machinery.

He further alleged that, under the guise of the revolution, they engaged in various activities through collusion with opportunistic factions. He remarked that this has hindered the aspiration of building a new Bangladesh led by the youth.

Challenge to prove allegations against himself

Nurul Haque Nur asserted that there is no scope for anyone to gain unethical benefits by using his name.

He claimed that although six months have passed since the current BNP government assumed office, no one has been able to substantiate specific allegations of corruption or irregularities against him.

He issued a challenge stating that if anyone could prove allegations of corruption or irregularities against him, he would voluntarily step down from his position.

Plans to boost overseas employment

At the workers' meeting, Nurul Haque Nur informed the audience that the government is working on a plan to create approximately 10 million (1 crore) new jobs in the coming days by expanding overseas labor markets.

He also highlighted various government initiatives aimed at expanding labor markets and increasing employment opportunities abroad.
