Regarding the resignation of Ishraq Hossain, Nasiruddin Patwary, Chief Coordinator of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), stated that Ishraq Hossain has fallen into a trap due to the Home Minister’s failure to take effective action against the drug menace.
He made these remarks on Monday morning (October 19) while speaking to journalists after exchanging greetings for the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival at the Dhakeshwari Temple.
On Ishraq’s Resignation
Nasiruddin Patwary said, "Ishraq Bhai has recently entered the political arena. His intentions were noble—he wanted to put an end to the drug problem. However, he has fallen into a trap due to the Home Minister’s failure."
Referring to the incident where Ishraq was shot, he added, "The core problem lies with the Home Minister. Why did Ishraq Bhai get shot? The Home Minister commits the fault, yet someone else suffers the consequences. This is, in fact, a failure on the part of the Home Minister. In the process, Ishraq Bhai has ended up in a trap."
Concerns Regarding the Security of the Hindu Community
During the conversation, the NCP leader also expressed concern regarding the security situation of the Hindu community in the country.
He alleged that although the BNP government claims to ensure the security of all citizens, the Hindu community is not faring well. He further claimed that incidents of vandalism have occurred in various parts of the country over the last three to four months.
Nasiruddin Patwary remarked, "Please do not label me as part of some 'new version of Shahbagh-affiliated Hindus.' They simply asked me to convey these concerns to you."
A Call for Dialogue
Nasiruddin Patwary emphasized the importance of mutual dialogue to resolve misunderstandings between the two communities.
He noted that representatives from the Hindu community are also keen to engage in discussions, expressing his belief that such dialogue could help clear up existing misunderstandings.
