Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has been the first to betray the mass uprising, said Rashed Khan, political assistant to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
He made this comment in response to questions from journalists after visiting the traditional 'Miyar Dalan' in his village Muraridah area in Jhenaidah on Saturday (8 August) morning.
Rashed Khan said that until now, he knew Dr. Shafiqur Rahman as an 'oppressed leader'. However, he claimed that his real position has become clear after the mass uprising.
He alleged that the Jamaat Ameer has been the first to betray the mass uprising by promising a general amnesty to the Awami League, whose activities were banned after the mass uprising.
Rashed Khan also said that Jamaat-e-Islami has committed injustice, lies and various other activities to come to power. He also accused the party of 'selling tickets to paradise' before the elections.
Regarding the political changes in the country, Rashed Khan said that martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia played a role in the positive changes in Bangladesh. He also commented that the future Bangladesh will change under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Regarding National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam, Rashed Khan said that he believes Nahid Islam was on the right path until the mass uprising.
However, Rashed Khan claimed that Nahid Islam had gone 'astray' since he became close to Jamaat-e-Islami.
Local political leaders, public representatives and ordinary people of the area were present at the time.
