Various areas of the country, including the capital, were engulfed in bloody clashes, shootings, attacks and counter-attacks on Sunday. At least 103 people including 14 policemen were killed. Among the dead, 92 people from different areas outside the capital. And 11 people died in Dhaka. Three thousand were injured including gunshots. Among the dead are students, a journalist and 19 leaders and activists of various ranks of Awami League.

The ruling party Bangladesh Awami League has suspended its previously announced mourning procession due to the re-imposition of curfew to deal with this situation. Awami League's mourning procession was supposed to be held tomorrow Monday (August 5). Apart from this procession, the formalities of the birth anniversary program of the martyred freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal have been suspended, said Sayem Khan, deputy secretary of the party.

The mourning procession was supposed to take place from the capital's Engineers Institution to Bangabandhu Bhavan. Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader announced this program in an emergency press conference at the political office of the Awami League President in Dhanmondi last Saturday.

Obaidul Quader said on that day, on the one hand, because of the inclement weather, on the other hand, we do not want to get involved in any confrontational situation, so we are avoiding such programs that may lead to conflict.

He said that there will be gatherings in all wards of Dhaka City and gatherings in all districts and cities of Bangladesh on Sunday. And on August 5, we will hold our program from Engineers Institution to Bangabandhu Bhavan.
