State Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-13, Bobby Hajjaj, has stated that the BNP-led government will not allow anyone to engage in extortion or criminal activities using party affiliation. He made the remarks on Sunday (22 February) while visiting injured party activists receiving treatment at a private hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Hajjaj said that effective measures have already been taken to curb mugging, extortion, and juvenile gang activities in the Mohammadpur and Adabor areas. He emphasized that the government is determined to maintain law and order and will not tolerate any form of extortion carried out in the name of party politics.
Speaking about plans to improve security in his constituency, he noted that with the withdrawal of the army camp from the area, steps will be taken to strengthen the local police force. Measures include installing 550 CCTV cameras to prevent theft and robbery in Adabor and Mohammadpur, establishing a police camp in Bosila, setting up 20 police boxes, and increasing the number of patrol vehicles.
During his remarks, he also alleged that rival candidate Mamunul Haque personally directed attacks at multiple polling centers on election day. According to Hajjaj, more than a hundred party activists were injured in the হামলা, and several are still undergoing treatment in hospital. He said the incident will not go unpunished and that legal action will be taken in connection with each আহত activist.
