Spokesperson of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya, has announced that the party is preparing to form a shadow cabinet. He shared this update on his Facebook post on Sunday, February 15.
He stated,
“We are preparing a shadow cabinet. It will ensure transparency and accountability while acting as a watchdog over overall government activities.”
Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiya further explained that the shadow cabinet aims to monitor the newly elected government’s activities while presenting an alternative perspective to the public. This initiative is intended to strengthen transparency and responsibility in the policy-making process.

He expressed hope that through the shadow cabinet, the NCP will play a key role in fostering fair political competition and promoting a culture of accountability in Bangladesh’s democratic process.
According to NCP sources, the initial selection of shadow cabinet members, their responsibilities, and operational guidelines have already been outlined. Both experienced party leaders and promising young members will be included. The shadow cabinet will also be responsible for observing and reviewing the activities of various ministries and critical sectors of the country.
In this way, the NCP aims not only to position itself as a political party but also as a responsible political actor that encourages a transparent and accountable political culture in Bangladesh.
