Obstacles to fair elections not yet removed: Jamaat's concerns over administration's impartiality

The Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami believes that the environment for free, fair and impartial elections has not yet been fully created in Bangladesh. The party claims that allegations are being received from various places that some government officials within the country's administration are working for a particular political party. In addition, incidents of killing political leaders and activists in broad daylight are still taking place in various parts of the country, which is further questioning the electoral environment.

An important meeting of the organization's Central Executive Council was held at the Jamaat-e-Islami central office in Moghbazar in the capital on Monday (January 5). The meeting was presided over by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. The Nayeb-e-Ameer, Secretary General, Assistant Secretary General and members of the Central Executive Council were present.

The meeting discussed in detail the overall political and law and order situation in the country in view of the upcoming referendum and the 13th National Parliament elections. The participants in the discussion opined that the environment required for free and impartial elections has not yet been visible. Questions are being raised about the impartiality of the administration and concerns are growing among the common people as political violence continues.

Jamaat leaders said that fascism has been bid farewell to the long 16-year movement and struggle. This new Bangladesh, which was achieved at the cost of the sacrifices of 1,500 martyrs and more than 30,000 injured and disabled people, cannot be allowed to be held hostage by any conspiracy, conspiracy or group.

The meeting called for maintaining maximum impartiality towards the Election Commission, the concerned election officials and the law enforcement agencies. Emphasis was placed on performing duties without leaning towards any particular political party, so that the trust and voting rights of the people are protected.

At the same time, the Central Executive Council of Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly demanded that the Election Commission and the government ensure 100% impartiality of the administration to ensure free, impartial and fair elections and take strict steps to visibly improve the law and order situation in the country.
