The sky over Dhaka from Rampura to Madhya Badda became heavy with fiery atmosphere on Wednesday afternoon. Thousands of patriotic students and citizens held a 'March to Indian High Commission' program towards the Indian High Commission. It was organized by the 'Julai Oikya', a front of several organizations associated with the July Uprising. The procession stopped in front of police barricades, but turned into a protest rally.
The protesters raised slogans of anger and protest in one voice, such as "Whoever India gets murderers, destroy India", "Whoever India gets Hasina, destroy India", "Take the path of Babur and liberate the Seven Sisters", "Whoever India gets terrorists, destroy India", "Whoever India gets butchers, destroy India", "Delhi or Dhaka, Dhaka or Dhaka", "No slavery, freedom, freedom". At this time, they also issued a strong warning to the government.
July Unity leader AB Zubair said in strong terms, “India is harboring genocide and crimes against humanity. If these murderers are not brought back, the student community and citizens of Bangladesh will take revenge.” DUCSU Literature and Cultural Secretary Mosaddek Ali Ibn Mohammad added, “The attempt to kill our brother was made by the Indians. There will be no more compromise; next time we will come back stronger.”
Although the procession stopped in the middle of Badda area due to police obstruction, thousands of people present at the rally gave a strong message of their anger and protest. The police could not stop the protest even with additional security measures.
This program is being taken as a strong warning to India and the government. The student community and civil society of Bangladesh are seeing it as a sign of democratic rights, patriotism and strong protest.
