A large-scale public meeting was held in the old bus terminal area of Narail city on Monday (November 10) afternoon in support of Shahriar Rizvi George, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate from Narail-2 (Narail Sadar and Shibchar) constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election.
Shahriar Rizvi George addressed the gathering as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Ward No. 5 BNP President Faruk Hossain of Narail Municipality. A large number of leaders, activists, supporters and common people from the district and upazila participated in the gathering. In his speech, he sought loyalty to the party and support for his expected nomination, saying, “I have been jailed, oppressed and sued in the past — yet I have fought alongside the party. If I get the paddy sheaf symbol, I will work in such a way that the party leadership will not need anyone else.”
The rally was attended by former convener of the district Krishak Dal Nabir Hossain, district Jubo Dal president Moshiar Rahman, and representatives of the district Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Chhatra Dal and Nagar BNP. The speakers strongly demanded that the party nominate Shahriar Rizvi George from the Narail-2 constituency and expressed their support, citing him as an expert leader and a fair claimant.
Faruk Hossain, who presided over the event, said, “Shahriar Rizvi George is a tolerant and capable leader who has emerged from the middle of the party. If he is nominated, the area will have a well-organized and strong base.” Other speakers said that Rizvi George has been working normally against him in the Narail-2 constituency for a long time and has close relations with the people of the area, so if he is a candidate, a public base will be created.
District Jubo Dal Organizing Secretary Shihabur Rahman Shihab, District Volunteer Dal Member Secretary Arifuzzaman Milon, Urban BNP Organizing Secretary Arman Ali Khan, District Chhatra Dal President Farid Hossain Biswas and others were present at the rally and they all called for ensuring the nomination of Rizvi George.
At the end of the rally, the workers and supporters present chanted slogans together as a symbol of victory and the rally ended with a request to the central leadership to nominate Shahriar Rizvi George for the Narail-2 constituency.
