Jamaat submits memorandum to chief advisor in Panchagarh: Five-point demands including national elections in February

Based on the July National Charter, Panchagarh District Jamaat-e-Islami has submitted a memorandum to the chief advisor and a protest march to realize five-point demands including national elections in February.
On Sunday (October 12) afternoon, a protest march was taken out from the Chowrangi intersection area of the district town at the initiative of the district Jamaat-e-Islami. The procession circled the main road of the town and ended at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises. There, the memorandum was handed over to the chief advisor through the Deputy Commissioner.
More than a thousand leaders and activists of the district and upazila Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as its affiliates and affiliates, participated in the protest march.
After submitting the memorandum, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Iqbal Hossain addressed a brief gathering.
He said, “We have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Advisor to implement the July National Charter before the national elections in February, issue an order and hold a referendum on the order, including five demands.”
Iqbal Hossain further said, “Our demands include—
1. Implement the July National Charter and issue an order before the national elections to be held in February,
2. Hold a referendum on that order,
3. Introduce both processes and procedures in the elections,
4. Ensure equal opportunities for all (level playing field) for free, fair and acceptable elections,
5. Make visible the trial of all the oppression, torture, genocide and corruption of the fascist government and ban the activities of the Jatiya Party and the 14 parties, which are allies of the dictatorship.”
He further said that besides Jamaat-e-Islami, like-minded political parties including JAGPA and Khilafat Majlis have also submitted a memorandum expressing solidarity with this demand.
District Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb Ameer Maulana Mofiz Uddin, Secretary Maulana Delwar Hossain, Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Shafiul Islam and other party leaders and activists were present at the protest rally.
The speakers said that the government must take immediate steps to fulfill the people's demands. Otherwise, they warned that the movement would be further intensified.
