Syeda Rizwana Hasan, environment advisor to the interim government, has reacted to National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam’s ‘advisors are thinking about safe exit’ comment. She said, “Why and in what context did Nahid Islam say such things? How can I comment without knowing the names or topics he did not disclose?”
Responding to a question from journalists in the capital on Wednesday (October 8), Rizwana Hasan said, “Nahid Islam has to come clean on this issue. Because the explanation for the statement he made should come from him.”
He further said, “As far as I see, it seems to me that the government has a good working relationship with the newly formed political party NCP, like all political parties. Now, whether Nahid Islam has said this out of arrogance or whether he has any real grievances, only he can say these things.”
Rizwana Hasan clarified, “When Nahid Islam himself clarifies the issue, then the necessary statement or explanation can be given by the government. There is no opportunity for the government to give a statement before that.”
It is worth noting that in a recent television interview, NCP convener Nahid Islam said, “Many of the advisors have already made liaisons with various political parties, they are thinking about their safe exit.” His comment sparked a wide discussion in political circles.
Although other government advisors did not comment directly on this matter, Rizwana Hasan’s statement made it clear that the government is reluctant to comment on the issue until Nahid Islam explains.
