BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said, "The leader whose name is used for slogans will be a minus." He gave such a strong warning at the Kishoreganj district BNP conference on Saturday (September 20).

At the conference, Fakhrul said, "Personality worship or individual-based politics in forming the leadership in the party has never been the ideology of BNP. In order to establish ourselves, the sacrifices and ideals of the leaders and activists must be given importance."

He also said, "Today's conference is not just a formality; it is the fruit of the sacrifices of the leaders and activists after 15 years. We must use this opportunity to further strengthen the party."

Recalling the history of BNP, the Secretary General said, “BNP is not a party that was formed suddenly. It is the fruit of a long struggle. BNP has repeatedly turned around in the face of many conspiracies, propaganda and attacks. Even the parties that had different positions in 1971 and the newly formed parties now talk about BNP.”

He further claimed, “Everything that is good in the country is the contribution of BNP’s time.” At one stage, referring to the Awami League, he said, “There have been many conspiracies to break BNP, but they have not succeeded. Rather, the conspirators have fled. BNP is like a phoenix bird—there have been repeated attempts to break it, but it has risen again.”

Mirza Fakhrul’s statement made it clear that he does not want to tolerate individual-centered politics on the issue of party discipline and leadership.
