After five years in Birampur, Dinajpur, 40 leaders and activists led by Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury returned to Jamaat-e-Islami. They officially filled out the party form and returned to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at a joining ceremony held at Jamaat's office at Dhanhati intersection in Birampur town at 8 pm on Thursday (September 18).
Jamaat's Birampur Upazila branch Amir Hafizul Islam presided over the joining ceremony. Central Committee Shura member and district branch Amir Anisur Rahman were present as the chief guests. Majlish-e-Shura member and former district branch Amir Anwarul Islam, district secretary Muhaddis Enamul Haque, assistant secretary Saidul Islam and municipal branch Amir and secretary were special guests.
Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury resigned from Jamaat-e-Islami in 2020 and joined the 'Amar Bangladesh' (AB) party. He most recently served as the editorial member of the central committee of the AB Party and the secretary of the Dinajpur district branch.
At the joining ceremony, Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury said, "In 2020, when I was associated with Jamaat, I suffered a lot during the rule of the autocratic government. But due to personal differences with some leaders of Jamaat, I joined the AB Party. Later, I did not see the spirit that I had hoped for in the AB Party. Currently, Jamaat-e-Islami has attracted me with its activities and ideology. That is why today I have returned to Jamaat with 40 leaders and activists."
It is worth noting that Arafat Al Abir, a member of the Birampur Upazila Convening Committee of the BNP student organization Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, also joined Jamaat-e-Islami at the ceremony today.
